David Feldman had a stand at the York Racecourse Stamp & Coin Fair on the 15th and 16th July 2011. There were 95 stands in total, and we were the only large auction house to have a presence. Although we were not the only ones to come from abroad as there were several dealers from Germany and the Netherlands, so there was a wide range of material on offer, not just the usual GB and Commonwealth.
The stand was dedicated to highlighting our December auction in Geneva which, so far, will feature specialised catalogues of Great Britain & Commonwealth, Switzerland and Olympic stamps & memorabilia. Images of some of the superb Mulready covers we have to offer worked well at attracting the attention of passers-by, and it was pleasing to hear that many already received our email notifications or our catalogues. We even spoke to people we first met at the ABPS show in Sheffield two months earlier, who were happy first time buyers in our Spring Auction series.
Attendance at the show was great on the first day, with some dealers thinking that it was at least as busy as Stampex usually is. Saturday however proved to be a bit more quiet, but the dealer next-door to me had at least one person sat down at his stand from 10am on the Friday right up until the end of Saturday!
The next time we will be back in England will be at Stampex in September, where we hope to bring along the GB and commonwealth lots we have to offer in December.
