Description

The important and unrecorded Charity Letter

1820 (10.1) Miniature envelope sent within Dublin to Drumcondra and showing a red small scroll unrecorded type “CHARITY LETTER” (similar to DF No.231), with red scroll “TOO LATE” and “P.P.OFFICE”” ds on reverse, fine strike of this extremely rare unrecorded small type, important exhibition showpiece.

Note: The 1818 Act (59 George III c 108) authorised special postage rates for single unsealed printed notices sent by Charitable Institutions within Ireland.
