1901 (6 Jun) A rejected die of the head in black on glazed card (96 x 62) marked “BEFORE HARDENING” and annotated “Die & Punch.” in manuscript; Rare. Note the extra lines above the head modified in later dies it was however used for the 2 1/2d. essays B-H.
