Lot 40540 – 1880 (Feb 2) Advertising cover for the Royal Victoria Hotel in Nassau, sent to the USA with 1863 4d dull rose perf.14
1880 (Feb 2) Advertising cover for the Royal Victoria Hotel in Nassau, sent to the USA with a very fine 1863 4d dull rose perf.14 neatly tied by “A05” barred oval, sent before the Bahamas joined the UPU (they joined 1st July 1880) and hence franked on arrival with US pre-cancelled 3c postage due (Scott J3), New York arrival adjacent and reverse with despatch cds, some minor soiling and horizontal cover bend at foot, a little reduced at left, very scarce with US postage dues as they were only issued in 1879 leaving a 13 month window of usage let alone on an illustrated cover.
