1858 (December 10th) Folded packet letter sent from St. Johns, Newfoundland to Greenock, Scotland, endorsed in manuscript “per Prince Albert” showing a circular “GALWAY / B / DE 17 / 58” transit datestamp, plus straight line Galway “SHIP LETTER”, and a circular “ST. JOHNS-NEWFOUNDLAND /PAID / DEC 10 / 1858” all alongside, an important exhibition showpiece. One of two usages of the Galway Ship Letter handstamp yet recorded and the only one on cover. Auction
