1759 (November 1st) Folded letter sheet from a sailor on board “Ship Ajax St. George” to London showing an unframed “SHIP” of Limerick, with matching second type (large uniform letters) provincial town namestamp of “LIMERICK”, rate “9” (1d Captain’s gratuity + 8d double to Dublin + 12d double Dublin to London), a wonderful and important Ship letter usage. The only known recorded usage of this type of Limerick Ship handstamp. Auction
