Lot 30056 – 1871, 500 mon, greyish yellow green, plate 1, earliest printing, pos.6
1871, 500 mon, greyish yellow green, plate 1, earliest printing, position 6, a well margined example cancelled by the “head portion” of large three-character “Kensazumi” postmark in regular script, used in the Eastern Zone.
A very rare example exhibiting the first postmark of Japanese philately, which was used during merely six weeks.
Note: The earliest printing of the 500 mon is nowadays classified as “greyish yellow-green” and “dull yellow-green”. Any other early green shade is classified as “early printing”.
