1871, 500 mon, greyish yellow green, plate 1, earliest printing, position 6, a well margined example cancelled by the « head portion » of large three-character « Kensazumi » postmark in regular script, used in the Eastern Zone.

A very rare example exhibiting the first postmark of Japanese philately, which was used during merely six weeks.

Note: The earliest printing of the 500 mon is nowadays classified as « greyish yellow-green » and « dull yellow-green ». Any other early green shade is classified as « early printing ».
