Lot 30213 – Cuba USA 1899 5c CUPA error used on stationery envelope
1899 2c overprinted USA postal stationery envelope with misplaced CUBA, additionally franked with 5c variety CUPA with customary straight edge tied by single duplex. Part of the items stolen by Rathbone, Neely and Millikan in the US Administration’s worst scandal. They stole the bottom left hand corner of the 5c sheets with CUPA error and affixed to stationery envelopes with faults to make rare philatelic items. Most unusual.
