Description

1797 (28.7) Folded entire sent to Dublin, and redirected to Donadhadee, rated “1/2” being deleted and rerated “8”, showing faint but clear strike of the scarce black dotted oval T * OFF, Dublin Bishop JY/27 bs, very fine and scarce on internal mail and the rarest of the two types of T.Off mkgs.

Note: The phrase Takings Off (T.OFF) was used within the Post Office for the accounting calculations, usually applied to incoming redirected letters when the rate was adjusted.
