1899 (Mar.) Mahe de la Bourdonnais Bicentenary essays, 18c. composite stamp-size essay with head and frame printed in blue with details picked out in Chinese white , affixed to card (90x115mm.) lettered “BB” and dated “March 28th 99”. with various annotations around the design including “Accent over e of Mahe”, “Head slightly tilted to left-should be corrected” “Appd. but payment of duty to be omitted for the present 11/4”. A superb essay.
