Lot 70120 – 1859 Sherwin issue 2d. deep blue on bluish vertical

2d. deep blue on bluish vertical pair, positions 9/12, close to large margins, neatly cancelled by individual strikes of dumb barred oval, which leave the portrait largely clear on the upper stamp, trivial blemishes mentioned only for accuracy (tiny ink mark between and light gum staining) though an outstanding pair of this classic rarity, of which few sound pairs exist (S.G.40, £16’000+)
