Lot 70075 – 1d. red-brown on bluish, latest impression, on 1859 printed matter from Port Louis

1d. red-brown on bluish, latest impression, position 4, large to very large margined example, cancelled by target postmark and paying the 1d circular rate on October the 1st, 1859 printed matter from Port Louis to Paris, France, with red Suez entry cds in France below, addressee’s wrapper missing, with manuscript annotation of the receipt indicating the sender (the representative in Mauritius of the Comptoir National D’Escompte de la Ville de Paris) and the date of the circular, this also tying the franking, a very rare usage of this rate to a destination overseas, one of only 6 known.
