Description

1840 (Jul 9) pre-printed lettersheet from Bridlington to Beverley (Yorkshire) with 1d black pl.1a OD with four margins tied by a fine strike of red MC, with Bridlington ”JY 9 1804” cds in red (an unusual error for ”1840”), interest (and amusing) content detailing the transportation charges for a prisoner to the House of Correction, the offence being ”Indecently exposing his person”. A fine and attractive cover.
