1840 (May 10) Mulready 1d lettersheet, stereo A23, sent from Bristol to London with fine strike of the scarce brown MC, ‘’Bristol MY 10 1840’’ departure strike on the first Sunday of usage. Small internal tear by the elephant, a fine and attractive Mulready with the scarce combination of the brown MC (S.G. £15’000) and first Sunday (S.G. £10’000). In addition, the black seal on reverse reads: ‘’Thank Rowland Hill for this’’ (S.G. Spec ME1vi).
