Description
1878-1883 Three letters: 1. Letter from Pireas (Nov. 17/29, 1878) to Paris franked with a 30 lepta of Athens printings (1876/1877), the U.P.U. rate for an international letter up to 15 grams (single rate). The stamp has good to large margins. 2. Letter from Le Pirée to Paris (Jul. 12/24, 1883), via Brindisi (Jul. 10/22, 1883), with “ambulant” Chambéry à Macon (Jul. 12/24, 1883), franked at 25 lepta, the U.P.U. rate for an international letter up to 15 grams (single rate). The 5 lepta is from the cream papers without “control number” (1880/1886) and the 20 lepta from the change of colours printings (1882) with good to large margins. 3. Letter from Marseille to Athens (Sept. 13/25, 1862). The five 80 lepta are from the consecutive Athens printings. The rate was 432 lepta for a letter from 25 to 30 grams (3.5 the normal rate) but the other stamps have been removed. All the stamps with good margins.
