Description
1877 Charged letter sent from Syros (Oct. 7/19, 1877) to Millau (Oct. 14/26, 1877), via Marseille (Oct. 13/25, 1877) & Montpellier (Oct. 13/25, 1877). Franked at 70 lepta corresponding to the transportation by the boats of the “Compagnie des Paquebots de la Méditerranée” of a letter up to from 10 grams (single rate) according to the 1866 convention between Greece & France. Red postmarks “CHARGÉ” and “PD” for “Paid to Destination”. Dated circular entrance postmark to Marseille on Oct. 12/24, 1877 on the front. The three stamps are from the meshed papers printings. The CHARGÉ letters (containing cash) with Greece at this period are very are very rare. Catalogue ref: Hellas 39a/42IIb
