Description
1867 (Jan 7) Unpaid entire from Manchester to Patras via London Jan. 8, Brindisi Jan. 11 and Kerkyra Dec. 31 (Jan. 12), endorsed “Via Brindisi” (Mont Cenis route), taxed on arrival 180 lepta in red pencil for a letter from 15 to 30 grams (double rate) with 80l pair and 20l Large Hermes Heads (mixed margins) according to the conventions between Greece & Italy of 1864 and Greece & France of 1838 & 1845. “40” centisimi credit to Italy with “Piroscafi Postali Austriaci” hs (“Austrian Post Steamers”) below the stamps for the sea transit from Kerkyra to Brindisi by an Austrian boat.
