1861 (Mar 8) cover from Port Elizabeth to Grahamstown with Woodblock 4d Pale milky blue tied by Large Triangular Obliterator, reverse with despatch ds, fine and scarce usage as these stamps were printed locally for less than 3 months duration; ex Richard Johnson and Guy Dillaway; cert. David Brandon (2022) (S.G. £8’250).
Note: The date of use (8 March 1861) confirms this stamp being from the one of the first two deliveries of the 4d Woodblocks either on the 23rd or 26th February 1861. This and the other Woodblock cover in this auction both have the same dispatch date and cancel from the same PO but they went to different destinations.
