Description
1916 2d black on thin wove paper, initialled in red ink, unused without gum as issued, showing variety “L” in “LONG” doubled, thin, fine and very rare, unique with this variety; cert. Gibbs (2002) (S.G. £2’500 for normal stamp).
Note: Only one sheet of 24 of these stamps were produced from plate 1. This stamp is position 19, and the “O” was typed heavily in an attempt to disguise the second “L”.
