Lot 61718 – 1858 120c slate blue, a unique usage on part of cover
1858 120c slate blue, type 27, showing a slight partial double impression at base, clear to large margins, tied to large piece of cover sent to Buenos Aires, tied by oval ds of Montevideo on 8.11.1859, stamp lifted for examination and hinged back into place; a most remarkable showpiece bearing an especially dark shade, to our knowledge unique on part of cover and being unrecorded on front or complete letter, with at most three copies in slate blue on piece in existence, further enhanced by the partial double impression; signed A. Diena; ex Sciarra and Scott.
