Description
The Luc van Bogaert Collection of Wreck Postal History by Railroad Transportation1880-1990 RAILWAY ACCIDENT MAIL: An outstanding specialised and most certainly a unique assembly of these piece of Railroad history.
For many years the wreck covers by airmail transportation have been systematically classified in the philatelic literature. About wreck covers by railroad transportation, very few sources are listing and or cataloguing these on a worldwide basis. Hence, the aim of this collection is to bring for the first time ever new approach to the classification. The description contained on the over 400 48, 42, pages come from the few books and periodicals that exist, plus many years of personal study and research by the present collector.
The collection is presented in three chapter and are as follows:
– Chapter 1 :-
Damage by fire in postal rail road cars: 1884-1990 Presented on 126 albums pages showing a variety of different types of accident notifications with manuscript, handwritten labels, printed labels, typed labels and an extensive array of handstamps
Geographical division : – a) Europe, b) America, c) Asia, d) Oceania, e) Africa
– Chapter 2 :-
Damage by other causes forwarding the mail on rails: 1879-1990 Presented on 188 albums pages showing a variety of different types of accident notifications with manuscript, handwritten labels, printed labels, typed labels and an extensive array of handstamps in mostly black and violet, some in red, showing a covers from a variety of different countries including Austria, Canada, China, Congo, Germany, Great Britain, France, Holland, Poland, Seychelles, South Africa during the Boer War, Switzerland, USA plus much more etc.
– Chapter 3 :-
Damage at the whereabouts of rail road stations: 1908-1970 Presented on 29 albums pages showing a variety of different types of accident notifications with manuscript, printed labels and an extensive array of handstamps
A truly magnificent collection from this little known area of collecting, an excellent basis for study, expansion and a wonderful opportunity to continue to build a great exhibition collection.
