Description

Varna. 1871 (Oct.) Cover from Constantinople endorsed “Via Varna” to Vienna, paying the single 15 soldi rate with 1867 2s yellow and 3s green, in mixed franking with Austria 1867 10kr blue, all from the coarse print and applied slightly overlapping, featuring the two different currencies incl. 10 kreuzer being equal to 10 soldi; the certificate mentions imperfections described as insignificant by Ferchenbauer (“volkommen unbedeutend und nur ordnungshalber erwähnt”) in the 3s incl. very slight spots in perfs. at top left and negligible wrinkle at top, which we only state as they are included in the certificate; an extremely rare soldi-kreuzer mixed franking; cert. Ferchenbauer (2005).
