Lot 80462 – India 1799 Fort St. George cover to USA

1799, “POST PAID/SERVICE/FORT ST GEORGE/R” Handstamp (Giles 5 var). Lightly struck but clear oval strike with “21” and “Oct” date handstamps on 1799 folded official cover, addressed to Capt. Macleod, the Collector (Tax) in Salem, cover heavily toned and splitting along folds, now reinforced, a rare official handstamp, Giles records use only from Feb. to Oct. 1799.
