1949 (Oct 2) Orchha Maharaja Vir Singh II mixed franking registered cover mailed from PALERA and received at TIKAMGARH (3 OC 49) paying the 5a postage with 5 x 1a scarlet (SG34). PALERA registered rectangle stamp in front. Scarce and fine showing a very late usage of the stamps in local post after the merging of the state with Madhya Pradesh which happened in May 1948, a new discovery that local mail was still active even after merging with with dominion of India (SG £640).
