Lot 20606 – Pair of 40 parale on bluish paper, cancelled by MICHALENI MOLDOVA 6/6 cds in green

Pair of 40 parale on bluish paper, large to very large margins, on small piece cancelled by MICHALENI MOLDOVA 6/6 cds in green. This is an extremely rare cancellation, according to Kiriac Dragomir’s research, only 492 such stamps were used at the near border town of Mihaileni, and this postmark should have cancelled stamps only in late 1858 and 1859, being followed by the FRANCO marking. The fragment has a horizontal crease, that doesn’t detract from the very fine appearance of this great rarity.
