Lot 20317 – 1872 North German confederation and Empire small shield combination

1872 (Dec 17) entire to Osnabruck franked North German Confederation 1/2Gr orange and German empire 1/2Gr Small Shield cancelled by Tecklenburg date stamps, arrival backstamp of same date. An exceptional combination to make the 1gr franking; attractive and very fresh entire, the Brustschild stamp has one short perf., otherwise very fine, illustrated in Krug and Ljungh, Mischfrankaturen mit Brustschildmarken, p. 58. Certificate Pfenninger (1962). Unique mixed franking of ½ groschen values in orange of Norddeutscher Postbezirk and Deutsche Reich.
