The Famous and Unique Field Wicklow Ship Letter

1817 (31.12) Folded entire from John McLennan in Berbice, British Guiana to Glasgow, redirected to Hugh Mc Calmont in Abbeylands, Belfast, on arrival from it’s transatlantic journey aboard the “Fame” being Captained by Gammillthe letter landed at Glasgow, once on it’s way to Ireland it received a faint crowned SHIP LETTER DUBLIN, with the extremely rare SHIP LETTER above the 2-line WICKLOW/24 in red alongside, partly in consequence of this redirection it shows quite a variety of postage rates being “1 1/2oz = 7/6 1/2”, “5/6” (deleted), “2/7 x6, 15/6” etc., cover faults and somewhat tatty, an important showpiece mounted on original Thomas Field album page

This is the unique example of the Wicklow Ship Letter yet recorded and the one described in Robertson on page E.310
