Lot 10294 – In order to reduce the book price to the round sum
In order to reduce the book price to the round sum of 2/-. while maintaining the the 1/2d. charge, it was decided to omit one 1/2d. stamp, replacing it with a St. Andrews cross in the last pane. A trial was produced in the issued covers of Booklet (2), save the IBC was as (1) containing dummy stamps in red and green with a St. Andrews cross hand painted.
1906 2/- trial booklet containing red (perforated) and green (imperforate) dummy stamp panes, the last green pane with a “blank stamp” hand painted with a St. Andrews cross affixed at upper left; a very rare trial.
