Description

Saffi: 1911 (Aug 11) Large part envelope sent registered to France with 1907-12 20c on 2d and 25c on 2 1/2d, with the 20c on 2d clearly fraudulently re-used with Marrakesh (Mellah) AU 29 11 cds and then cancelled with Saffi AU 29 11 cds, the 25c on 2 1/2d tied by Saffi registered oval ds, registration label adjacent, Tangier and Marseille arrival bs, envelope missing about 2cm from the bottom, most unusual and rare; ex Bater and Stotter (illustrated in his book “The British Postal Service in Morocco 1907-57”, p.72).
