Crash Mail: 1943 registered airmail cover to Hamburg, Germany, the aircraft that carried the mails from South America crashed and sank when landing on the Tagus river in Lisbon, 20 passengers died, the stamps have nearly all washed off, the one remaining has been re-affixed and secured by British and German censorship, a label applied on reverse ‘Beschadigt bei Unfall des Clipper-/ flugzeuges am 22.2.1943 bei Lissabon’.
