Lot 30740 – Tuscany 1853 cover to Shetland Islands, Scotland

1853 (Dec) small envelope remarkably addressed to Buness, Shetland Islands (Scottish Islands), franked at correct 17Cr rate with 1cr and horizontal strip of four 4cr, tied by usual bars with P.D. Firenze date stamp to left, small red PD and French entry cds, London tombstone date stamp of 3 JA/ 1854, green Aberdeen and Inverness double-ring transit of JA 5, the stamps have touched margins on one or two sides, the 4cr strip was folded over on franking and is now opened-out for display, there is also a horizontal fold that runs through the 1cr but the envelope remains attractive, to a most unlikely destination and is remarkable; ex Stewart Gardiner.
