Lot 30672 – 1861 1/2t Savoy Cross on newspaper

Newspaper ‘L’INDIPENDENTE’, no. 140 of 30 March 1861, franked with a ½ tornese blue ‘Savoy Cross’, position no. 70 of the De Angelis-Pecchi classification. Cancelled with black circular postmark ‘PARTENZA DA NAPOLI 2 APR 1, some inconsequential creasing to the newspaper and modest amount of toning on one margin, A rare example of the Savoy Cross used after the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy; cert.
