Luxemburg Military Post 1Sgr black/rose uprating 2Sgr stationery envelope, the adhesive cancelled four-ring 1520 numeral with double-ring Trier 24/4 (1853) date stamp in association at right, soldiers framed handstamp 1B XXXVI JR on reverse, on front additional manuscript “Militärbrief der Bundesfestung Luxemburg”, from a soldier of 36th Magdeburg Infantry Regiment, from a known correspondence to Mark-Neukirchen (Saxony). the mandatory ‘Soldiers Letter’ marking was stopped from December 1853, making the dating of this item possible. Illustrated in Giessler, currently the earliest known letter with a Prussian franking from the Festung Luxemburg, an important item.
