Description

1949 BEPITEC and CITEX Stamp Expositions colour trials both in imperforate blocks of four in six colors of the labels prepared for airmail envelopes together with perforated and oblique perforated blocks of four in the issued green colour; also colour trials in violet and dull purple of commemorative envelopes proposed for each Exposition as well as franked but unmailed commemorative envelopes in the issued green color with blocks of four of the BEPITEC and CITEX labels on the reverse, very fine and scarce, ex Palace Collection.

Note: Included is a typed statement from the Canadian dealer Kasimir Bileski, who had purchased these color trials in the 1954 sale of the Palace Collection, describing their origin and indicating that only one sheet containing 16 blocks of each of the imperforate color trials existed and suggesting that the envelope color trials were unique.
