1898 (Sep 19) British Bechuanaland postcard sent from England to Mafeking, franked on the reverse with 1881 1d lilac die II tied by Westgate-on-Sea “G48” duplex (stationery die also cancelled by the duplex), with Cape Town 11 OCT transit and Mafeking OC 13 squared circle arrival, endorsed “No such street known”, returned to the sender’s address with Mafeking OC 19 cds and Cape Returned Letter Office cds, “Undelivered for reason stated” handstamp on arrival in London, peripheral creasing, an unusual usage and scarce incoming mail to Mafeking/Bechuanaland.
