Description

Burutu (types 4 & 7): Trio of covers from Burutu incl. 1898 (Mar 19) envelope to Shorncliffe Army Camp in England with embossed “Royal Niger Constabulary” on backflap, addressee erased, with GB 1887 2 1/2d tied by very fine type 7 violet ds; 1898 (May 6) envelope (repaired with both sides affixed back together) sent to England with 2 172d tied by black Burutu type 7 ds; and 1899 (Mar 18) envelope with 2 1/2d tied by fine strike of the Burutu type 4 violet ds; a useful group.
