Lot 60677 – 1940 Xining, province of Amdo cover

1937 (26 July) provincial red band envelope from Huangyuan to Xining franked 5c S.Y.S. With contents letter from a Muslim merchant detailing the tight supply of Tibetan wool. The Tibetan Government has always considered Amdo as part of Tibet as the population was Tibetan and owed allegiance to the Dalai Lama. A hard to find item.
