1852 Folded entire to Madeira bearing on reverse ST:-THOMAS JA4 1852 despatch cds, carried by SS “Clyde” via Southampton, red RETURNED FOR “3/3” POSTAGE applied in London, then sent back via RMS “Orinoco” and N°274 DETAINED FOR POSTAGE applied upon return in St.Thomas, further ST:-THOMAS FE20 1852 backstamp, also ms “Missent to St.Thomas”, then back by SS “Great Western”, 160Reis due handstamp applied upon arrival in Madeira, an extraordinary item
