Gupta Empire, Narasimhagupta, c. 495-530, AV dinar, 9.65 g. (21 mm). Obverse: ‘archer’ type; king with stacked, flat curls wearing tailed tunic over pleated loin cloth, standing left, holding arrow in right hand, left hand holding bow at top; behind to left, Garuda standard; gre or gu in what may be Brahmi between feet; Nara in Brahmi below king’s left arm. Reverse: Lakshmi seated with legs flat facing on lotus seat with heavy pleating to her hip cloth, holding diadem and long-stemmed lotus left, tamgha to left, traces of Brahmi legend to right valaditya. Raven, NSG/group 2.
VF+, crude strike, vibrant lustrous surfaces, evidence of some cleaning.
