Gupta Empire, Skandagupta, c. 455-467, AV dinar, 9.24 g. (20 mm). Obverse: ‘archer’ type.
Special features: king with halo wearing tailed tunic over loin cloth and sash tied by knot, with long, shoulder-length curly hair standing left, Brahmi legend beneath a tiny crescent under arm, skanda, circular Brahmi legend around but off flan. Lakshmi with halo seated facing on lotus, holding diadem and long-stemmed lotus left, Brahmi legend at right kkramadityah. Kumar, TOTGE 2024, Class II, variant A1. Raven, SkG/group 6.
VF-EF, large flan, very attractive lustre shows through.
