Gupta Empire, Chandragupta II, c. 380-413, AV dinar, 7.69 g. (19 mm). Obverse: ‘lion slayer’ type; king in very dynamic pose with one leg raised on to lion at right, holding the bow in his left hand, and firing an arrow at the lion with his right hand. Reverse: Lakshmi with halo sitting astride a lion with head raised to the left, holding a lotus flower and her left hand is empty and rests on the lion’s back; tamgha to left and very clear Brahmi legend to right sinhavikramah. Kumar, TOTGE 2024, Class III, variety A. Raven, CG2/group 2.
