Gupta Empire, Samudragupta, c. 335-375, AV dinar, 7.25 g. (22 mm). Obverse: ‘lyrist’ type; king with hair tied into a top crest with beaded string, necklace, and loin cloth, seated left on a couch, playing the vina musical instrument, Brahmi inscription around. Reverse: goddess Lakshmi seated left on a stool, holding diadem and cornucopia, Brahmi legend at right samudraguptah, dotted border around. Kumar variety A.1 Raven, SG/group 3. Very rare.
Fine details, punch mark on reverse field, test cut on the edge at 4 o’clock on reverse..
