Description
Carnet de balCarnet de bal rectangulaire recouvert d’émail jaune, comprenant 4 pages de vélin et un crayon surmonté d’un petit diamant.
De fabrication délicate, ce carnet de bal présente une couverture raffinée en or jaune comprenant quatre panneaux en émail bleu avec des motifs dorés et des ornements en forme de perles de chaque côté de la couverture. Les panneaux inférieurs représentent une scène avec une femme et un enfant, ainsi qu’un vase, un arbre et une colonne.
Les panneaux supérieurs arborent l’inscription « Souvenir d’Amitié ».
Le côté ouvrant comporte deux trous servant à glisser un stylo en or raffiné surmonté d’un diamant.
L’intérieur renferme quatre pages en vélin, autrefois utilisées pour noter les noms des partenaires de danse lors des bals mondains. Un témoin rare et charmant de l’art de la correspondance sociale au XIXe siècle.

A rectangular, yellow and enamel covered “carnet de bal” including 4 pages of vellum and a pencil with a small diamond on top.
Delicately crafted, this “carnet de bal” features a refined cover in yellow gold including four blue enamel panels with gold motifs and pearl like ornament on each side of the cover. The lower panels showcases a scene of a women and a child as well as a vase, tree and column.
The upper panels displays an inscription “Souvenir d’Amitié”.
The opening side features two holes used as locker to slide a refined gold pen toping a diamond on its top.
The interior contains four pages of vellum, once used to note the names of dance partners at society balls. A rare and charming example of the art of social correspondence in the 19th century.
