Indonesia, Java, Medang Kingdom, anonymous and undated, c. 8th-10th century, AV, 2.28 g. (8 mm). Obverse: engraved Devanagari character ‘ta’ or ‘ma’, probably indicating a unit of currency in ancient Java. Reverse: two square incuse punches, each with a raised point resembling a sesame seed.

A very rare coin that suggests that the Javan economy around the 9th century was partly monetized.
