Description
Shilaharas of Kolhapur (11-12th century), AV gadyana, 3.95 g. (13 mm). Obverse: anthropomorphic Garuda dancing facing with head turned left on a platform, holding a snake in left hand, circular line around. Reverse: architectural temple with supportive pillars and an object enshrined in the sanctum. VF-EF details, struck with crude and rusty dies, possible edge filing on some areas of the edge.An extremely rare coin of the Shilahara dynasty that ruled northern and southern Konkan, encompassing present-day Mumbai and southern Maharashtra.
