Alupas dynasty, Pandya Dhananjaya, c. 11th century, AV dinar, 3.59 g. (17 mm). Obverse: dynastic emblem of two fishes arranged vertically above a lotus flower and under the royal umbrella the umbrella flanked by the crescent symbol on two sides. Reverse: three-line legend in the language of Kannada, spoken in southwest India. An exceedingly rare coin from the Alupas dyansty in southwest India; one of the finest known of this type.
