Post Gupta, Bengal, Samatata region, imitative of Gupta coins, c. 575-625, AV dinar, 6.15 g. (21 mm). Obverse: representation of the archer type, king standing left, with halo, holding bow in left hand and arrow in right, pseudo-Brahmi characters to right, standard with Garuda in right field. Reverse: stylized female or goddess standing right, crude unread legend in left field, dotted border around.

EF, well struck with strong details, even lustre across the coin on both sides.

A very rare type that features the Garuda to the side of the king, probably to assert his proximity or lineage with the Gupta rulers.
