Macedonian Kingdom, Alexander III the Great, 336-323 BC. AV quarter stater, 2.14 g. (11 mm) Miletos, under Philip III, c. 323-319 BC. Obverse: head of Athena right, hair in curls, with crested Corintian helmet pushed back and adorned with serpent coiled to right. Reverse: Nike standing facing, head left, holding wreath and stylis, in left field double axe, below left wing ear of grain.
A very rare fraction of the Macedon stater, with less than 5 sold at major auctions in the last 25 years.
