1845 (2 Apr) Cover to New York, bearing 1841 2d Blue, Plate 3, JD–JI, horizontal strip of six. Clear to very large margins, tied by fine strikes of Bridport “127” barred numeral, departure datestamp adjacent. Small slit at upper-left corner of JD and some creases to stamps; tape used to close minor slit in address panel. A scarce multiple on cover and rare transatlantic usage, paying the one-shilling Packet rate via Cunard Caledonia. Catalogue ref: SG S.G. 14
